New Build Energy Solutions

Welcome to New Build Energy Solutions, and congratulations on finding the best site for honest, impartial energy advice when building your new home.

Who am I?

My name is Fred Bolton, and I entered the energy business as a Domestic Energy Assessor in 2008, carrying out energy surveys on existing housing. I then qualified as a Commercial Energy Assessor but soon realised my passion lay with new houses. This laid me to complete a course to become an ‘on construction’ Energy Assessor in the New House market, and finally a course in the Air Tightness Testing of new houses. The depth of knowledge which has been accrued over the past 16 years has been invaluable. It has not only given me the insight needed to meet today’s complicated requirements for achieving Building Control compliance but also made it possible to offer impartial energy advice on what is required to construct not just a comfortable, energy efficient home, but one that can be built within the available funds and budget.

What I do

In 2008 energy efficiency was almost unheard of, but today it is one of, if not the most, important factors when constructing your new home. Meeting the stringent energy targets set by Building Control is not easy. It involves a combination of different elements of the building that produce an energy-efficient home, such as insulation, heating types, heating sources, ventilation systems, air tightness, glazing, and more, not to mention heat pumps, PV panels and battery storage. After studying your architect’s plans, we can arrange a meeting to discuss all these issues. I will not only provide advice on what to use, what not to use, and why, but more importantly, put your mind at ease, and leave you with the confidence to construct not just a house but an energy-efficient and comfortable home you will be proud of.

You usually only get one chance to build a new home - make sure you get it right.

Insulation

Proper insulation is crucial for maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature and reducing energy consumption. We can guide you on the best materials and methods to ensure maximum efficiency.

Heating Types and Sources

Choosing the right heating system and energy source is vital for both efficiency and long-term cost savings. I can advise you on the most suitable options for your home, including renewable energy solutions.

Ventilation Systems

Good ventilation ensures a healthy living environment and complements energy efficiency. We can help you select systems that provide fresh air without compromising energy savings.

Air Tightness

Ensuring your home is airtight prevents heat loss and improves overall energy performance. I will guide you through the testing process to ensure your home meets the required standards.

Glazing

The choice of windows and glazing has a significant impact on energy efficiency. I’ll help you choose the best glazing options to reduce heat loss and enhance comfort.

Renewable Energy Technologies

Modern homes often incorporate renewable technologies like heat pumps, photovoltaic (PV) panels, and battery storage. I’ll explain how these systems can be integrated into your home to reduce reliance on non-renewable energy.
